Wish I could think of a more flashy, more
"sashal" title for my Macau post. But no, to put it more accurately,
this is the best title to describe our side trip to Macau. It could have been
"Misadventures in Macau". But that would be an understatement.
We woke up pretty late that friday since we partied a bit
too hard the night before. We even failed to rebook our tickets less than 24
hours the required time. *sniff sniff* We braved to go to Macau just Paige, and
I. We felt like bad asses since we were on our own and only with our trusty
Macau maps. We prepared to get lost, and so we did. We got on the wrong train
and did I tell you we were running out of time since we left HK at 3pm? Can't
remember the number of face palm moments we had that day.
We booked two way tickets, thinking it was cheaper. Yes,
feeling puerto galera lang. hahaha! WRONG! It costs the same, and let me spoil
the whole story by telling you our ferry left us. I thought I did enough
research about Macau, and fully equipped.--WRONG yet again. There is in fact
two! One in Taipa, the other in Macau. I remember rushing to the immigration,
feeling like a bad ass being the buzz beater that we are. Only to realize, we
were at the WRONG ferry terminal. The other terminal is 30-45 minutes away from the
terminal we are in.
Looking back on our trip, I realized
that no matter how much I love Hong Kong and Macau, I love being Pinoy just as
much. A lot of Pinoys work in Macau, and you can tell easily. I cannot count
the number of times they saved our lives in the brink of getting completely
lost! (Save our lives talaga ano?) There was this one time where we got on the
right bus but didn't know where or when to get down! Thank the heavens, we saw
a Pinoy on a bus and asked them for directions and they gladly helped us. Worse
was when we were trying to find our way back to Taipa Terminal, and asked for
directions in the bus stop from 5 different people, and got 5 different
answers. We saw two Pinoys and we exclaimed "Kuyaaaaaaaaa" with great
plea and joy. But the nicest is the security guards we met in Senado Square he
welcomed us with "Mabuhay kababayan!" with his arms suspended in the
air as if he worked in a 5 star hotel, and was paid to do it. But no. They were
just two Pinoys who was genuinely nice to us. Chatted with us as if we're
friends with their daughters, or a niece they never got in touch with. They
even mistook us as doctors, or dentists. hahahaha All of them were warm and
nice to us, I can finally say without hesitation, I am proud to be Pinoy! The
random act of kindness from Pinoys is probably my favorite memory of Macau.
We got lost half the time we were in Macau. But I must
say, there is indeed adventure in "MISADVENTURE". I thought, this is
what I love about traveling with friends. We may have gotten lost countless
times, but we never fail to find the comedy in between mishaps! :-)
I am not fat (defensive?) I was constipated for daaaaaaaays. |
Make friends with a local! Goal achieved!!! :) although he was masungit at first but no one stays masungit with bibo kids! |
This blog post is making me miss not only hong kong, but
our bonding together. I miss US guys! :(

P.S We got back in HK past 11pm, then met up with Jess,
and Alex. They were worried sick about us, and hugged us the soonest we saw us.
HAHAHAHA! And did I tell you our clingy friend Alex tweeted "Nasan na kaya
ang dalwa? Bakit parang namimiss ko sila?" while we were in Macau? hahaha!
Clingy friend indeed!
