My good friend glerren and I were ranting about how the "new" wave of "photographers" are penetrating the God forsaken mainstream market. How yuppies are swagging their way, showing off their DSLR (permanently set on auto mode) displaying douchebaggery. You can bet they know nothing about photography jargons. *facepalm*. I hope this does not mean death to Photography.
I'm a Business woman on a normal day, and a photography enthusiast on the side. But without intentions of crossing the border to professional. I'm too much of a cheapskate to purchase lenses, and jaw dropping DSLR. That being said, I will not invest too much money on something without return of investment. (Yessss, I sound like a legit business woman na! hahaha!) I planned on buying a camera that fits my needs, for blogging purposes mostly. I found myself in a predicament that I may be sharing with a lot of people. What's the best camera that will work for me without breaking the bank? I once made a horrific mistake of purchasing a camera out of impulse, and boy was I wrong. Olympus fe 4020 was my horror, it was overpriced, and the mediocre picture quality was beyond disappointing. Time came, and I had to move on from my dear old Olympus. So before leaving for Hong kong, I purchased Sony w690. With bright, sharp images, and panorama feature. It did exceptionally well... while it lasted. It wasn't long before our first month together when someone took it. My heart was crushed whole, it was the fruit of my hard work. My hard earned money was gone. NADA.
My Misibis Bay vacation came, and still no camera to replace my w690. Blame my lack of enthusiasm after losing my beloved. My savings account is meticulously budgeted for my future trips. There is no way that I can purchase another w690 which is a whole lot cheaper in Hong Kong. My BB though did acceptably well back in Misibis. But this dork, only wants what's best for this blog.
With my recent mistake with my Olympus cam, I made sure to take home the perfect baby this time. I rummaged every tech savvy website, filled with reviews left and right. It was tricky with the number of choices in the market. It can be pretty daunting, but with a lot of patience, and research, you can have the besty camera.
If you plan on taking casual photos (like me), you might want to consider these five tips you before getting your digital camera without joining the DSLR bandwagon:
If you plan on taking casual photos (like me), you might want to consider these five tips you before getting your digital camera without joining the DSLR bandwagon:
1) Ask yourself, what are you going to use it for? What pictures will you be taking mostly? and most importantly, how much are you willing to shell out?
2) Go to the mall, have some of it checked. Check the picture quality, jot down the model that you've been eyeing on. Since my previous Olympus purchase was a fail, I didn't consider looking at other Olympus models. I was unfair yea, but I felt deceived. Sony however left me a good impression. So I'll be keeping one eye open for this one.
3) Now go back to your list, and look for reviews in the internet. Go over, tons of reviews. I found a website which gave my old Olympus fe 4020 5 stars! QWERTYUIOP!!!??
4) The higher the megapixels, the better picture quality myth is a joke. This is why you need to have it tested before you purchase anything, especially in low light!
5) Before you make any purchase, compare the price. Haggle if you must. Hold your horses, to bag the perfect bargain.
Undecided yet? This might just help! hehe If I had more moolah, I'd probably buy one of these babies!
