The shopaholics go backpacking

You must  have read about my SEA backpacking trip on January with my Attorney/Captain cousin Calai, and I've been cracking my knuckles excited about it!!!! What's not to be excited about? Biking under stiffling heat, temple hopping, ass numbing bus rides, a wide variety of scrumptious local food (Tarantula included), and awesome new people you meet along the way. (=

Yesss, that's my bigatin cousin! Eh ako, dork slash.... chubby lang. haha

Backpacking in asia, just like any other egg in the basket eh?

Nope. Not really.

The dork's wishlist!!!! (=

It's been a constant thing for me to write down things I feel the need to buy. Must be the cosmos, but I find myself crossing out some items in my list. Some seemed unimaginably impossible, but found it's way to cross itself! Awe-mazing! I even suggest that you try it, let the law of attraction work its magic on you! Slave it, and own it! hehe

Being the cheapskate that I am ultimately known for, my needs aren't exactly superficial like most wish lists out there. Not even a fancy SLR, nor a designer bag. All items here are my travel must haves, but since I haven't purchased any of them, they will remain on my wishlist. Mwuhahaha

1) The day I learned to tweak the manual buttons of my new baby, "Bruno". I yearned for a tripod. Often my hands are too shaky, resulting to blurry pictures. Boooooooooo.

Anawangin, Zambales |Throwback

Sometime last year, I visited Anawangin, along with Camara, and Capones Island on a tight 1500 peso budget. Including bus fares, food, tent, and every single centavo spent that day.

It is no secret, that Anawangin is undeveloped. No fancy hotels, no buffet breakfast. The beauty of Anawangin though lies in its virgin innocence. Away from the hustle and bustle of urban living and its superficiality. You'll have to set up your own tent, cook your own food, and thrive for survival. Kidding :p Blame my poor retention skills for depriving you of a budget itinerary, and budget saving tips. But this should be enough to convince you to visit Anawangin along with its neighboring islands.

How to pick the perfect digital camera

My good friend glerren and I were ranting about how the "new" wave of "photographers" are penetrating the God forsaken mainstream market. How yuppies are swagging their way, showing off their DSLR (permanently set on auto mode) displaying douchebaggery. You can bet they know nothing about photography jargons. *facepalm*. I hope this does not mean death to Photography.

I'm a Business woman on a normal day, and a photography enthusiast on the side. But without intentions of crossing the border to professional. I'm too much of a cheapskate to purchase lenses, and jaw dropping DSLR. That being said, I will not invest too much money on something without return of investment. (Yessss, I sound like a legit business woman na! hahaha!) I planned on buying a camera that fits my needs, for blogging purposes mostly. I found myself in a predicament that I may be sharing with a lot of people. What's the best camera that will work for me without breaking the bank? I once made a horrific mistake of purchasing a camera out of impulse, and boy was I wrong. Olympus fe 4020 was my horror, it was overpriced, and the mediocre picture quality was beyond  disappointing. Time came, and I had to move on from my dear old Olympus. So before leaving for Hong kong, I purchased Sony w690. With bright, sharp images, and panorama feature. It did exceptionally well... while it lasted. It wasn't long before our first month together when someone took it. My heart was crushed whole, it was the fruit of my hard work. My hard earned money was gone. NADA.

MISIBIS BAY: Luxury Playground

In contrast to my backpacking pursuit, the wandering dork embarks on a fancy vacation to Misibis Bay! It's so fancy It never even made it in my dreams! hahaha I'm surprised though that this Bicol wonder is yet to make it to the  mainstream despite it being a 5 star hotel. I only get an "Ahhh!" and a nod if I reply with conviction "Yung pinuntahan ni Zac Efron". And don't ask me how many times I asked the staff here about Zac Efron. Like a stalker, yea!

You can reach Misibis Bay by flying to Legazpi, Albay. It's a 40 minute flight, and 45 minute drive to the hotel. While the flight was uneventful, the latter was a visual buffet,  enough to create an eyegasm!!! The lush greenery, the peaks of natural landscape, and the majestic Mayon,  got my eyes glued to the beautiful scenery of Bicol like a giddy kid on a fieldtrip. The bridges were breathtaking, as the view of the pacific ocean was splendid. My ooohss and aahhhs were innumerably genuine drooling after every tourist spot.

After less than 2 hours of travel,we finally reached Misibis Bay at Cagraray Island. We were welcomed with delish welcome drinks, the local ibalong dance, warm smiles, and cooling towels.

Casa Marikit Ristorante Italiano

Casa Marikit is peacefully tucked in Banay-Banay, Lipa City, Batangas. A perfect getaway for urbanites wanting a piece of Italy. It created a huge buzz when it first opened in Feb. 2011 on Valentines Day serving wine, steak, pasta, and pizza over live Bossanova music. The love for good food, and interior design gave birth to Casa Marikit. Every detail of the restaurant was studied extensively from tastefully designed brick wall down to mosaic tiles. A bagful of love is poured  over Casa Marikit of which transpired to the quaint ambiance, and palatable food.
